Character HISTORY
The world Blue comes from is hundreds of years in the Earth's future, where mankind has long since ruined its home planet of Earth (known as Terra) and set out to colonize other Earth-like worlds, all under the guidance of a system called Superior Domination. At its head is a computer program called Grandmother, designed to control every facet of human life, right down to their very means of reproduction. Humans are no longer born from other humans; they are test-tube-bred and raised by carefully selected surrogate parents, groomed throughout adolescence until their fourteenth years, marking the time of their adulthood examinations.
This process, designed to wipe clean a human's mind of "unnecessary" memories and emotions, was what triggered Blue's transformation from average teenager to the being known as Type-Blue – a Mu (mutant, really). When faced with the computer system's demand for the erasure of his cherished memories, the boy soon-to-be-called Blue retaliated, unlocking powerful psychic abilities. He was quickly subdued by laboratory security and locked up. The experimentation began very quickly, lasting for an unspecified amount of time, during which Blue's mind was probed, tested, strained and re-tested for the limits of power and the means to controlling or shutting it down.
All the while, other children began to show signs of the Mu factor and were subjected to similar processes. These were extremely dangerous tests, and many children died under the strain subjected upon them. Mu, in general, were found to be humans less physically strong than average, and therefore most simply could not endure the demands that strained both their minds and bodies. Several different types of Mu were discovered and classified according to their shown abilities (Red, Yellow, Green), with Blue-1, this character, being the only Type-Blue of his kind. The first...and most dangerous, according to the SD System. Throughout these processes, Blue's mind was indeed scrubbed of his precious childhood memories – even his name. From then on, he is just Blue-1.
At long last, the cruelty and death toll too strong and too much to bear, Blue lashed out. He used a psionic burst to break himself and others with him out of the laboratory, and led them out to hijack a spaceship. The humans, always rational and clearly not reacting too rashly, fired a planet-killing space gun at them and basically blew the entire planet up in an attempt to eradicate the small population of Mu trying to escape it. Many, many died, but a small handful managed to warp out of the ruined space and go into hiding. As the strongest and the one who mounted the rebellion, Blue took charge of the situation and led the Mu through space, eventually given the title Soldier by his peers.
Three hundred years went by. Mu age much slower than humans, but they're not immortal; by this time, Soldier Blue felt himself reaching the last lengths of his long life, with no sign of acceptance from humanity on the horizon. During that unseen length of time, the Mu have greatly beefed up their ship, expertly cloaked from detection while hiding on a colonized planet called Ataraxia. Their numbers have grown, as rescue missions were executed each time a Mu child was detected and within reach; Blue and select others would go out into the human cities to spirit away children before the humans could discover their powers. Blue, too, encountered an unusual girl being bred in a secret lab – a girl with a pure and clear vision of Terra, the homeland all humans are mentally sculpted to long for. Blue and the other Mu were not immune to this, and, hungry for this vision and its reality, he stole her away, too. Physis remained on the ship divining futures with the help of Blue's power, all the while supplying him with the images of an ideal and safe home for all Mu on Terra.
It was a dream he knew he was never going to realize during his lifetime. Knowing this, Blue set out to find the one would could guide the Mu to their happy future. He found Jomy Marcus Shin, a boy just days away from his adulthood examination, and sensed his massive, sleeping Mu abilities. Blue reached out to the boy through dreams, exposing him bit by bit to the Mu's hidden life aboard the ship Shangri-La, before rescuing him from the memory-wipe process Jomy was about to undergo in his examination. When Jomy's powers exploded into the forefront, sending him on a wild race against enemy fighters, Blue chased after him, catching him at last in orbit around the planet to share with him the earliest memories of his life – his own examination. He pleaded with Jomy to take his mantle and lead the Mu before his power gave out and sent him reeling back toward the planet. Jomy caught him and brought him back to the Shangri-La, where Blue announced to his long-time comrades that Jomy was to be the next Solider and carry them all and his dreams to Terra.
Twelve years passed with the Mu under Jomy's care, all the while Blue slept and slept because he had exerted himself to his limits. Since then, they had been exposed and fled from hiding, beginning their journey out into space to find Terra, the coordinates locked and lost to them. They wandered, eventually finding an abandoned human colony on a planet called Silvester Seven. With every weary from long years of fruitless searching, Jomy decided to settle down there and the whole company discovered that, holy shit, we can make babies without test tubes. Blue, still in his long sleep, missed the whole exciting escapade of Mu shacking up and popping babies out left and right and rejoicing in how mentally fulfilling the whole thing was. Babies. Babies everywhere (actually just seven babies but come on).
Three years later, the Mu are discovered, and Keith Anyan, a decorated military man often thought to be the "child of the machine," was captured and probed (mentally) to discern where Terra is. When one of the Mu children tried to straight-up murder him, Keith stabbed the kid and abducted Physis and made his way toward the ship hangar while the kid's mom went batshit insane and blew up another part of the ship in agony because holy shit her kid is dead (but not really). This nonsense finally, finally woke up Soldier Blue, and he struggled to the hangar and somehow beat Keith&co. to it because plot devices. Words were had, threats were made, babies were tossed into the air and Keith got away.
And then Keith came back with a fleet of ships and a planet-killing laser. Welp.
The point Blue is being pulled from is right around this time, where he and Jomy are off to try and save the day and the former's just said some ominous farewells to his crew and beloved Physis, handing over his iconic space headphones (they are actually amplifiers but come on) to her.
Character PERSONALITY
Blue is...an ocean of emotion. Very vast, with great swells and strong waves, but expansive enough to have the appearance a great and heavy calm, hiding raw power underneath. He is often very placid and collected, thinking before speaking/doing, and is much more a reactive leader than an active one in his long age. He has a kind of glacier effect in his responses: strong reactions he might have to a situation or statement are not conveyed as strongly as they are felt, as he is a leader and must conduct himself as one on behalf of his comrades.
His passions are extremely strong where his people are concerned, but very few know how strong they are for certain. In Physis, he has an anchor and confidant, and he latches onto her to root himself in his ambitions. It's a kind of...weird...(unhealthy?) infatuation, where his affections for her are mixed in with his affections for her vision, but the efforts he has gone to keep her safe and at his side shows he cares for her deeply one way or the other.
He is hungry for that future where Mu can live on Terra free, with dignity, and without fear of persecution. That is his mission, and all other things fall into this perspective. "You won't know if something becomes good or bad until you've seen it all," he said to Jomy; he does not yet know if all the things he has done were for the best, but he's done them with full conviction and desire to better his people. The very moment after he drafts Jomy into his cause and plummets out of orbit, he laments having to do it, silently begging Jomy's forgiveness for having handed over such a weighty burden. Blue knows very well the strain of being a leader and doesn't wish it on anyone, but he knows he must, and does it because he must.
As a Mu, he is very attuned to moods and emotions, thoughtful of others' needs before his own. He willingly stretches himself beyond his safe limits for the sake of those he cares about, going so far as to pay the ultimate price in protecting them. He comforts them in their struggles and sadness, offering what advice he has to help them get back on their feet and put things into right perspective. He is almost father-like: Tender and nurturing, while also strong and unwavering when he needs to be. When things come down to the line, he does not hesitate to stand by his convictions.
Centuries as a fugitive have made him leery of humans, though he knows it is ultimately not their fault. Still, he bears the same scars of the laboratory incident the other elder Mu do, and there can be no denying there's some resentment there. Humans, who do not even know Mu exist because the machine does not want them to. Humans who live out their lives blind to the manipulations set upon them. It is frustrating and sad.
Frustrating, too, is his dimming strength. Blue laments his failure to save Physis from Keith (Jomy did) and his long sleep while all these wonderful things were happening for his people. He wants to be a part of it, see Terra with his own eyes, and watch his people flourish. He knows he won't, and more's the sadness. He can only hope and believe in Jomy – that he does, as well. He fiercely hopes and believes, because in the end, it is all he can do when his strength wanes. It's what he does the moment his life is ultimately wiped out.
His opinions on humans have shifted (see: notes, bringing him in from another game) to the point where he's come to admire and fear unbridled human innovation and passion. Over his time in Capeandcowl, he learned how to be more than a Soldier in a place where he was no longer forced to hide. He could be someone's friend without having to be their rescuer, and could use his abilities to better people without the threat of destruction looming over his shoulder. He could also learn to love to fly, not being chased by enemy aircraft or missiles.

If you are certain of it being so wrong, refuse to do as they ask. These people may have the power to pry you away from your lives at your homes, but they do not exert power over your very wills. Do not give them such a thing; it is precious. Make them earn your respect and support.
Are you afraid to do this?
