[Blue lets out a soft sound of acknowledgment as understanding starts to sink in. he may not know the merit of the term 'girlfriend' at face-value, but he understands the wealth of importance Peter put's on the person attached to that term. it'd be as though Physis were returned safely to him, or...
...is there anyone as comparable? the longer Blue lingers in that embrace, the more he can only wonder if he truly knows this kind of connection at all.
he sets the wondering aside for a bit, instead just closing his eyes and allowing himself to accept this wealth of emotional information for what it is up-front - a gift, freely given; an invitation to share in joy not unlike the way Mu would do so unconsciously.
it's warm. nice. like...having suddenly been set in warm water after being so long numb to feeling that kind of comfort.]
[ Peter can explain what girlfriends are if Blue inquires about Gamora. The way he'd describe her, however, would probably fall more in the category of 'wife'. Peter is stupidly in love with her, and it's been obvious since that day when another empath, Mantis, brought it up in front of the other Guardians. He had been embarrassed then, but once the cat was out of the bag, Peter found that he didn't mind all that much of people knowing about his feelings.
He hopes he's not making this weird, that Blue isn't thinking that he lost his mind. I'm glad for you, Blue says, and on top of the love there's a layer of relief sweeping over Peter's emotions. He's glad too, so very glad. He had been so scared that she was lost forever. But that was then and now it's like he can breathe again. ]
Thanks, Blue. [ Peter starts to rub small circles on the man's back, gently, slow. He would offer to introduce Blue to Gamora, but she's still recovering from what happened with Thanos, from the news about their world. She has never been a social butterfly, so she needs a little time, and to do it on her own terms if she's going to meet up with an empath. ] Are you okay? [ Is this too much?, is what Peter is really asking. ]
I am. [though the prolonged contact might zone him out if he lingers too long - especially with the back-rubbing! that said, he withdraws to arm's length, face flushed but seemingly unbothered by it. rather, this is something of a tone-setter for the day. it's nice.]
Though... [considering all that he's just been embraced with, he has to wonder:] Did she not want you near? Why did you rush over here? [ah--] Was there something I could assist with-?
Good, that's good. [ He leans back when Blue puts some more space between them, smiling down at him. Peter makes a point of not mentioning the flush, although it's very tempting to do so. ]
What? Oh no, no, we're fine! Well, not fine, fine. We both went through a lot of trauma recently, and we need to deal with some shit, but it's all good between us. I just thought you might, uhm....
[ Peter is pretty sure that Mantis laughed for the first time after she touched Drax, because he didn't have the chance or a reason for doing so before. She got a thrill when she had the chance to learn and experience new emotions. From what he learned about Blue, he can tell that the poor guy also hasn't experienced a lot of love in his life, and he wanted to change that. Of course, now that Blue asked about it, Peter feels a little self-conscious. Maybe assuming Blue would like this was vain of him? ]
[Blue stares at him for a beat longer, processing what is said, unsaid, and all the trappings that goes with it all. slowly, his expression softens out of its concern, giving way to a smile, genuinely touched.
he just...wanted to share something nice with him. something that meant a lot to him, personally...]
[ That stare has Peter almost backtracking and apologizing for coming over, and then when Blue does speak, he's floored by the words. There's now a light shade of color in his cheekbones. ]
Ahh--You'll make me blush. And it's not an easy feat. [ He's generally way too shameless for that. Sincere compliments are rare, however, and they have the immediate effect of both making Peter pleased and making him feel a bit sheepish, almost shy. Peter pats Blue's arm, smiling.]
Anyway, it was my pleasure, really. You'll see Gamora around the station for sure. have I mentioned she's green?
[as ever, Blue keeps his hands to himself, letting Peter be the one to reach out. humans and boundaries and all that business have him wary to initiating contact, even when he's not likely in danger of causing harm. still - better safe than sorry!
his smile ebbs to something gentler, less overly sentimental.]
You didn't before, but you have just now. I will...take note of it. [surely someone green will be easy to spot on this station without the giant, neon sign-like Peter-thoughts directing him to her.
though...one question does come to mind.] You...mentioned knowing an empath before. She knows of the sort, too?
[ When it comes to Peter, boundaries are more like suggestions. He doesn't appreciate having his space invaded by people he doesn't like, of course, but if a friend decided to do that - Like Drax when he insisted on hugging him even after Peter told him it wasn't needed- he would just accept it rather than getting angry. Blue is more than welcome to initiate contact. ]
It must have slipped my mind. [ He didn't think it's that noteworthy because he's grown up around aliens of all different colors. Peter sometimes forgets that's not the case for everyone else. ]
Gamora might take a little to warm up to people, and she had a really terrible experiences before coming to the station, but she's a great friend to have. She knows about her, yes, we have lived with Mantis for years in the same ship. She can only use her powers when she's touching people, unlike you.
[ While it's true that Gamora is used to Mantis, Blue's a different kind of empath, and he probably needs a warning. Peter's overall demeanor is still showing happiness, but his tone of voice does advise caution. ]
She doesn't like being startled or touched out of the blue, and she's got mad reflexes and fancies swords. It's less that she's immediately angry with someone and more that it's been ingrained into her to be on the defensive. [ And at that, anger and regret flares from Peter, remembering what Thanos did to her and Nebula. He makes a conscious effort to calm down and focus on the present. ] BUT! No sudden touches and all will be all right.
[Blue nods in understanding. the conclusion seems a bit more hard-lined to him than to Peter:] Then, perhaps...she is someone I should avoid. Until she seeks me out herself.
And until she has been forewarned someone like me is here.
[he wouldn't want to startle her, but sometimes it seems impossible for him to not startle someone; it can be hard to know which things he picks up can be shrouded as human insight and not his senses picking up the things most expect to be hidden away.]
[ Blue, no. Peter's face falls a little, concerned about his words being misunderstood He can't blame Blue for being cautious, but he doesn't want to give him the wrong impression about his girlfriend either. ]
Ey, no, come on. She's not easily scared or scary herself, just on the side of serious, it's all.
[ Think about Peter, Blue. Then imagine his total opposite. That's Gamora. ]
Maybe talking with her through the network first could be a safer approach for both of you but don't overthink it. [ Peters gives Blue's shoulder a squeeze, smiling again. ] You're very likable, man.
Just opposite sin personality, not in morals! Gamora was the most honest of the Guardians from the start, pinky promise.
I'm sure you will. [ It's good to see that smile, Blue has a very nice one. Peter isn't expecting him to bow his head so politely, and he pauses for a moment before reaching out and ruffling the man's hair affectionately. ]
Eh, I'm just happy to know you enjoyed it. I'd better stop pestering you now, I'm sure you had plans for the day. But if you ever want more hugs, give me a call.
h-head pats? hair ruffles?! Blue bristles, shoulders drawing up and remaining that way for a beat after the fact while he looks up owlishly at Peter. nobody's subjected him to hair ruffles in at least 200 years! what the heck.
[ Hair ruffles are nice and peter might give him more unless Blue objects. He now looks more confused than displeased so he takes that as a good sign. Beside, Blue's a cutie, who wouldn't want to give him hair ruffles? ]
Good. I'll see you around the station, you know how to find me.
[ And with that, he's going to wave goo bye and leave Blue to do whatever he was doing before Peter interrupted him with the hug. ]
