The real things are pretty fragile. [ How ... ironic actually. ] But that shouldn't be, since I don't go for anything cheap.
[ After that declaration, the additional praise gets him to smile - still a little proud, smirky because he can't help but enjoy feeling the COOLEST, but definitely softer, a rarer sight for him.
But much like the rarest of gems, it's short-lived, and after a couple of moments of Blue inspecting it: ]
Blue hesitates to obey, because he's not immediately sure where to lift it from that wouldn't disturb it in some way. with a little encouragement, though, he does finally hold it up as suggested, little bits of it clinking and tinkling against itself, notes muted against his hands.]
[ With that last bit of instruction so he can properly hear how it's supposed to sound, Yzak lets out a light, short whistle, a Charter magic spell that conjures up a tiny gust of wind, but enough to rustle it.
And just like he claimed, the sound the chimes make when hit is more soft than shrill. ]
Good to know I made the right choices in gifts, then.
... And, at least this one doesn't seem to be causing any more tears. [ If Yzak was a person who joked and had a sense of humor that would have sounded a lot more lighthearted. But, ]
[ He's not troubled as much as he knows he's clearly Tough Guy projecting since he's mister "hates being seen being emotional and will run out of a room to avoid it." That thought as well as one along the lines of guess I'm not very good with the good ones, either! go through his mind. But despite them, he's still Very Clearly Pleased by the situation.
Enough that he'll add: ]
I don't believe there are any immediate upcoming celebrations that similarly have gift-giving as a tradition. But on the off-chance that there is, I'll aim for the same thing in that case, if you're this appreciative!
[with a slight nod:] Yes. It's up to me...to be able to be prepared to manage...with those high standards of yours.
[but that's not a terrible thing, is it? it's nice, being so thought of. it just hurts...not knowing how to reciprocate in a way as meaningful.
he thinks about that miserable dream of Yzak's - of bodies and isolation. until he can think of something better, company may have to suffice...for as long as he's around to be able to provide it.]
[ He feels content enough with Blue's appreciation. Clearly that's a gift in and of itself for him in return! ]
Anyway, I can put that up for you. [ He motions at the wind chimes. ] If you'd like. And then take my leave since I'm sure you'd prefer to get some rest.
[ His company being enjoyed ... highkey what he wants from anybody that he himself likes being around. So hearing that makes him happy as he reaches over with a nod to gingerly take the wind chimes. ]
Yeah. Everything there was familiar to me, too. We don't really lean into the more religious aspects of the holiday where I'm from anymore, but we still celebrate the traditions.
You don't have anything similar, do you? Holidays like that. Or rather, maybe it's more accurate to ask that you haven't gotten the time to establish any.
Those will all become available on their own once you're settled.
[ He says that just as assured as he does anything else. There's some bit of empathy there, too, since while Yzak's world has those things - their holidays and celebrations - its still hard to really partake in and enjoy them during war time.
He opts to put the wind chimes up over Blue's bed, close enough that he can simply reach up if he wants to touch and hear it. But not where he'd hit it with his head or anything if he sat up. Strategic placement!! ]
[ He doesn't sound entirely skeptical, saying that - he doesn't think he's unkind and he knows his friends are his friends for a reason - still, he doesn't really hear it often (outside of ... probably his mother). ]
It'll be easier for you to reach yourself here, but not in the way. And it's not close enough to the ventilation that it'll be an issue and wake you by accident.

Good point. Let's see...

I hear it was...based off memories of an Earth.
It was nice.

Yes. All new waves of soldiers are in particularly large groups.
